2018 Friends of the Library February Speaker Series

The annual speaker series is hosted at McCord Memorial Library each Saturday morning at 10:00 am during the month of February. We welcome the community to come and enjoy speeches by noteworthy local professionals, free of charge.

February 3rd –  Teaching English in Russia by Sue Fuller

Sue Fuller will speak about her experiences during the 22 years she served with The Mission Society in Khabarovsk, Russia, as well as her children’s ministry at the village orphanage.

February 10th – Historic Vignettes of North East, PA  by Dick Tefft

Take a walk down memory lane with Dick Tefft and friends (Chaz Wagner & Kira Newara) as they share stories and pictures based on Dick’s book about North East.  Books available for signing.

February 17th –  Tour du Mont Blanc by Barb Fynan

Lace up your hiking boots and join North East resident, Barbara Fynan, for an adventure on the Tour du Mont Blanc, a 110 mile hiking trek around the highest peak in the Alps.  We will travel through three countries: France, Italy & Switzerland.

February 24th – “Mania and Marjorie D. Armstrong: Inside the mind of a Female Serial Killer” by Ed Patella

Jerry Clark and Ed Palattella will describe the history of Diehl-Armstrong in an attempt to explain her murderous ways. Books available for signing.

 We now have a Google calendar! The Main calendar (click here) has all the main library programs. The Children’s calendar (click here) has story time dates and details. You can click any event on the calendar to add to your own calendar using your gmail.*

To add the event, simply click the event and “copy to my calendar”.

When the next screen pops up, click save. Now it should be in your google calendar.

*Note, you will need to have a gmail account to save an event, BUT you can view the calendar without a gmail account.

At the library, click the folder on the desktop.
