“Unearth a Story” this Summer at McCord
- Join us for summer reading at the library from June 8 – August 8. The theme for this year is “Unearth a Story”. Each week we will have something new and exciting for all ages
AAPI BINGO Reading Challenge:
- April 27 – May 30
- Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month is celebrated each May. We are challenging patrons to learn more about AAPI month by participating in our mini BINGO Challenge.
- Each completed row will count as an entry in our prize drawing.
- A full bingo card will earn you an extra entry! The prize is a Plum Blossom Lego set and a $15 gift card to Tia’s Book Cellar.
Tea Blend Workshop
- May 11 @ 10:30
- Join us for our tea workshop where you’ll learn the basics of tea blending. Each participant will craft their own blend. An optional sampling will take place at the end of the workshop. Each participant will make and take home a custom tea blend. (Ages 17+)
- Cost: $5.00 | Pre-Register and pay by May 6
Erie Cancer Wellness Center: Cancer Where You Are
- May 4 @ 10:00
- Every first Monday of every other month, the Erie Cancer Wellness Center will be at the library from 10:00-11:00 to offer non-medical services such as gentle yoga, meditation and reflection, and journaling for people who have been affected by cancer.
STEAM Club
- Mondays at 4:00
- Ages 6+
- May is our last month for STEAM Club until the end of September. Join us for the first three Mondays in May for STEAM Club. We will have activities available such as Beebots, Marble Runs, Legos, and more!

Election Day: Tuesday, May 19
- McCord is a polling place for North East Borough Ward 1.
- Polling hours will be from 7:00am-8:00pm.
- The library business hours are from 9:30-7:00.
Read and Create: Wednesdays at 4:00
- Grades K-5
- Join us after school from 4-4:30 each Wednesday for an interactive program for kids in grades K-5! We’ll enjoy a read-aloud followed by themed activities, games, or crafts based on the book.
- The first meeting of each month features a “Book vs. Movie” showdown where we read a book, watch a short clip, and play a game to test your knowledge! (No need to have watched the movie.)
New lines added to Dial-A-Story
- There will be a total of four lines available for Dial-A-Story:
- Lines 1 and 2 will remain the same with the weekly picture books and monthly Spanish story.
- Line 3 will include a chapter book that is aimed toward grades 3-5. A new chapter will be uploaded weekly.
- Line 4 will include updated library programs and events!
