Elevator Construction
The elevator will be out of service from through September 22. During this time, Curbside Pick-up is available for library holds. To utilize this service, make sure your holds are placed the day before pick-up by using our online catalog, calling, or emailing the library to place holds. When using curbside pick-up, a staff member will meet you at the Park Street entrance, ask for your library card or photo ID and bring your items out to you.

- Tuesdays & Thursdays: 11:00-3:00
- Saturdays: 1:00-4:00
Erie Gives Results
Thank you to all who gave to the library during Erie Gives. With your help, the library received $12,580 from over 70 donors! Every dollar given to McCord Library, goes directly back to our community.
DIY Herbal Heating Pad
- Monday, September 29
- 10:00-11:30
- Join us for a cozy, hands-on Herbal Heating Pad Workshop! Pick a pre-sewn pouch, then fill it with rice and herbs from our selection. Great for soothing aches, easing stress, or gifting someone special!

Fall Book Sale
Our Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale will take place from October 13-18. The book sale will take place during McCord’s regular business hours. Saturday will be our $1 bag day.
Book Donations
Starting September 15, the Library will accept donations for our upcoming Book Sale. The last day for donations is October 8.
- Place book donations at the Park Street entrance, downstairs by the drinking fountain. Keep them by the back wall as not to block the door marked Elevator Room.
- No moldy, stained, or badly damaged books
- No encyclopedias, textbooks, or VHS tapes
- Once our storage space is full, we will no longer accept donations
NEW PROGRAM: Read and Create
- Wednesdays at 4:00
- Grades K-5
- Join us after school from 4-4:30 each Wednesday for an interactive program for kids in grades K-5! We’ll enjoy a read-aloud followed by themed activities, games, or crafts based on the book. Connect with others as we share a love of reading, spark creativity, and add in some STEM skills, too!
- The first meeting of each month features a “Book vs. Movie” showdown where we read a book, watch a short clip, and play a game to test your knowledge!
- (No need to have seen the full movie.)
Graphic Novel Club
- Tuesday, September 9 @ 4:00
- Grades 6-8
- Calling all middle grade students to join us each month to read great stories, talk about them with friends, and take part in fun themed activities! Snacks provided! We meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 4-4:30. This month we’ll be talking about the Dog Man books!
STEAM Club
- Mondays at 4:00
- Ages 6+
- Join us every first Monday of the month for STEAM Club. We will have activities available such as Beebots, Marble Runs, Legos, and more!
Teen “Crafternoon”
- Saturday, Sept. 6 @ 1:00
- Thurs. Sept 18 @ 3:30
- Join us at one of our two sessions and learn how to carve designs into erasers and make stamps!
Take and Make Kits: DIY Sandals
- Make your own sandals out of cardboard and paper!
Spice Club is Back!
- Sign up for the 2025 McCord Spice Club. Each month participants will receive a sample of that month’s featured spice, along with a printed packet full of recipes and information featuring the spice.
- To receive the next spice, register no later than September 29.
- Spices will be ready the second week of each month.

What is Dial-A-Story?
- Dial-a-Story is a library program that is available 24/7! Call 814-347-8318 to hear a story read to you. Stories are available in English and Spanish. English stories change weekly and the Spanish story changes monthly.
- Call as many times as you want!
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
- Ask for a bag and registration form at the main desk.
- For each 100 books you read, receive a sticker and move your name along the tracker wall located downstairs by the elevator. Receive a free book when you reach 1,000 books!
- After every 100 books parents or guardians can take a picture by the milestone posters.
