Fiction stacks Moved!
We moved the Young Adult, New Adult, Fiction, and Large Print books! Everything will be shifting a bit as we continue to weed.

New Adult now begins in the very first wall column when you enter the library from the Park Street entrance. This means that New Adult has a display area separate from Young Adult.
This is our newest collection at McCord and will continue to grow in the future. New Adult books are adult books that focus on coming of age and the trials of new adulthood. These books often provide YA readers a bridge to the Adult Fiction sections.
The Young Adult books now sit in the corner of the Fiction Section, to the right of New Adult. Young Adult books are written for teens. Also referred to as Teen Fiction, these books focus on school age drama or saving the world (think Hunger Games and Harry Potter).
Many comic books and graphic novels are also included in this demographic.

Large Print Fiction and Rotating Large Print are located by the seating area. With our new expansion we have been able to leave the bottom row empty for Large Print! This saves patrons from having to stoop down to read small print.
The Rotating Large Print is a collection that swaps every few months around Erie and Crawford Counties. Fiction and Non Fiction can both be found in the rotating collection.

Fiction is now located in the South East corner of the building.
We are continuing to weed and repair fiction. As we pull books to assess their condition we may replace popular titles. If a book hasn’t circulated in a number of years (many have not circulated since 2013! That’s 11 years of sitting on the shelf unread) it is withdrawn and put in our book sale. Our book sale will be the week of April 15th this year.
Fiction books have genre labels to help you find books you might like.

Now why are we weeding so heavily? To make sure we prioritize the parts of the collection that people want to read most. As always, you can request books that you would like added to the collection. Request new books at the main desk. Please be advised that our space is limited and we cannot add every book requested but we will try to get you the book you are looking for!

Genre Labels
Curious about genre labels? The pink doves are inspirational/Christian fiction, the blue (or green) mystery labels are for mystery fiction. We also have Horror, Christmas, and Western labels. Whether a book is in regular fiction, Young Adult, or Large print, we use the same genre labels for consistency. You might also notice the graphic novel sticker on some books. We use these to show what books are comics. These genre labels are used for all our books, even the children’s books. If you want to read a Christmas picture book, first look for the picture books (in the Blue Dot section) then the Christmas stickers. Happy browsing!
