Library Updates

Spring has finally sprung! We will have more space in the shelves full of fun new titles. Things may move around a bit as we adjust the collection to better serve our community.

Book Requests:

If there is a book that you want to read and its not available in the county, we can place an Inter Library Loan (ILL) request to look throughout the state. Note that these ILL requests have special rules, higher fines, and might not always be filled. For example, if a library has the only copy in the state of a rare book they might elect not to send it. If you need the book for research purposes, you can ask for a photocopy of the relevant section as long as it does constitute the majority of the work. Fair use photocopying is a legal gray area so proceed with caution.

If there is a book that you think we should add to the collection, ask at the desk for it to be added to the new book consideration form. Books are added to the collection at the discretion of our Director. We cannot take books directly from the public to add to the collection. Please understand that we have limited space and while we wish we could add every book it is just not possible.

Program Requests:

Do you have a program you would like to see at McCord? Is there an event that ran out of space that you want to see once more? Let us know! We are always eager to plan programs that the public wishes to attend.

Coming Soon:

Summer Reading is just around the corner! There will be programs for all ages as well as fun challenges and activities.

We are holding a special fundraiser to raise funds to replace our elevator. It has served us well for the last 30 years but it has become old enough that replacement parts are too expensive. The planned replacement is not until September. If you need books while the elevator is out of service, call the library at (814) 724-4057 and we can run your books out to your car (as we did during Covid).
